Title: A Light Shining in Darkness
Text: Isaiah 60: 1 - 3
Isaiah 60 is God’s vision for Israel to be a light shining in a world covered by darkness. A world that does not know God needs Israel to shine the light. There is a command to
arise and shine (v.1), and a promise that God’s light and glory is upon Israel (v.2). God’s presence will be with Israel and the nations will see and be drawn to Him (v.3).
The theme of salvation is light shining in the darkness. Jesus is the light of the world to rescue the world covered by darkness. Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
